Dr. Ava Khatibshahidi
I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from NYU College of Dentistry and completed a one-year General Practice Residency in Buffalo, NY. After my residency, I returned to Canada to continue providing compassionate dental care to patients of all ages.
I am passionate about helping people feel comfortable at the dentist and strive to create a positive, stress-free experience for every patient. I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry and am committed to delivering high-quality, personalized care that improves both oral health and confidence.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends.
Dr. Andrea Tagliaferro
I am a general dentist in Toronto with over 20 years of experience providing high-quality, patient-centered dental care. I graduated in 1999 from UNESP, in Brazil, and I also hold a Master of Science degree in Genomic Sciences and Biotechnology.
After moving to Canada, I worked in scientific research at Mount Sinai Hospital while completing the certification process with the National Dental Examination Board of Canada. I became fully licensed in Canada in 2016 and have been practicing general dentistry in Toronto ever since.
I provide a full range of general dentistry services and have a special interest in cosmetic dentistry and dental sleep medicine. I believe a healthy smile can improve confidence, communication, and overall quality of life. My goal is to offer gentle, comfortable care and help patients feel relaxed, informed, and confident about their treatment.
I am a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) and an AADSM Qualified Dentist. This means I have advanced training in treating sleep-related breathing disorders, including snoring and obstructive sleep apnea, using evidence-based, patient-focused approaches.
I am committed to continuous learning and regularly complete continuing education to stay up to date with modern techniques and technology. This allows me to provide my patients with safe, effective, and comfortable dental care at every visit.
Outside the office, I love being close to nature—hiking or running new trails—and more recently, I’ve been learning to play samba on the tamborim.
Dr. Benjamin Lerner
I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela where I completed a Bachelor of Science program.
I graduated from dental school being among the top of my class. I obtained a “Masters of Science” Degree in Orthodontics at The Intercontinental University in Mexico City in 2006.
In 2009, after working for several years in orthodontics, I moved to Canada, and completed many continuing education courses. I successfully completed the Equivalency Process to become an accredited general dentist in Canada.
My vast experience working in both private practices as well as in a non-for-profit setting: specifically, volunteering to assist underprivileged sectors of the Venezuelan population; has enabled me to have a better understanding of patient needs and wants. Knowing what I know, I partner with my patients to offer them a complete experience changing their lives and smiles.
Orthodontics (conventional clear or metal braces and Invisalign®) is my passion. I cannot think of anything else I would rather do.
I believe in always growing and offering my patients the best this is why I attend many continuing education courses. I am fully proficient in English and Spanish.
In my free time, I love spending time with my wife, daughter and baby son and I am a huge fan of the “Toronto Blue Jays” and the “Raptors”.
Dr. David Ezra Carmona
I studied dentistry at the University of Toronto before completing a residency in general practice in Brooklyn, New York.
I have a passion for creating a comfortable and positive environment while providing comprehensive treatment to patients of all ages.
I believe that professionalism, honesty, and integrity are the three pillars on which I base the way I practice. I prioritize the oral and overall health of each patient that sees me. I advocate for the well being of all my patients and I am always available to them.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, trying new restaurants, travelling and getting active. I love to play and watch sports, especially when the Toronto Maple Leaf’s are playing!
Dr. Ehsan Ashrafpour
I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2012 from Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Iran. Early in my career, I discovered a strong passion for Endodontics — the art and science of saving teeth through root canal therapy. I take pride in changing the perception that root canal treatment must be painful, and I strive to make the experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible for my patients.
In 2015, I was accepted into the Master’s program in Endodontics at my alma mater, where I further honed my expertise. After completing my specialty training, I relocated to Canada and successfully achieved certification through the National Dental Examining Board of Canada.
I value building genuine connections with my patients and feel privileged to help improve their health, confidence, and quality of life. Dedicated to excellence, I stay current with the latest advancements in dental care and technology through ongoing professional education.
Outside of dentistry, I enjoy swimming, traveling, and relaxing with hard rock music!
Dr. Jonas Stefani

I completed my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the distinguished Juiz de Fora Federal University, Dental Faculty of Brazil in 2008. I came to Canada to practice my lifelong passion, “dentistry”. Here I attended Ryerson University and later became certified by The Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Toronto after achieving high success in all dental qualifying examinations in Dalhouse Dental School in Halifax. I believe in always improving myself and the services I offer as a dentist. Therefore I am always taking continuing education courses to update my knowledge and skills. I believe that we learn something new every day and we always grow as professionals and as people.” I am a huge believer in giving back to the world and I often do volunteer work in Canada and abroad. I am an affiliate of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, the Academy of General Dentistry, The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, The Ontario Dental Association, America’s Pediatric Dentists Association and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Dentistry is my passion.
Dr. Melissa Argenta-von Schober

Dr. Melissa Argenta-von Schober founded The Stockyards Dental in 2012.
Born and raised in Brazil, she has always believed deeply in giving back to her community and helping others. This passion is what led her to pursue a career in dentistry.
Dr. Melissa Argenta-von Schober earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from PUC-PR University in Brazil in 2002 and later completed the Canadian board examinations to obtain her dental license in Canada.
Since moving to Canada, Dr. Melissa has gained experience in every aspect of the dental office, giving her a well-rounded and hands-on approach to patient care. She is known for her genuine compassion— not only for her patients, but also for her team — encouraging everyone around her to grow, thrive, and reach their highest potential.
Her philosophy is simple: dentistry from the heart.
Dr. Melissa’s mission is to free people from pain and help them achieve big, confident smiles they are proud of. Her practice is built on joy, positivity, and laughter, creating an upbeat and welcoming environment where patients feel comfortable and cared for.

Dr. Noah Wolfe
I graduated with Honors in Kinesiology from Western University in 2018. In 2024, I graduated from the University College Cork in Ireland with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery.
I completed my dental residency at Mount Sinai Hospital. There, I acquired proficiency in surgical and emergency treatment skills and cared for members of our community with special needs. I continue to work as a member of the staff at Mount Sinai and at The Stockyards Dental.
I am an active member of the ODA, CDA, and RCDSO. My emphasis as a dentist is on patient care and providing a calm environment by establishing a strong rapport with patients. I really care about people and helping them.
Outside of the practice, I am an avid runner and golfer. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, especially my 2-year-old twin nieces.
Dr. Zoey Friedman
I am a native Torontonian (third generation!) and after completing my Bachelor of Sciences degree at the University of Western Ontario in London, I returned home to Toronto to study for 6 years further at the University of Toronto to receive my Masters of Sciences degree, followed by my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
I have always been an active member of the community and strongly believe in the importance of volunteerism and giving back. As a result, I have been involved with several non-profit organizations over the years; most notable is my long-term involvement with childhood cancer communities across Canada. I have also committed time to promoting improved oral health care in rural communities in Ontario. I always knew I wanted have a career that would allow me to work with, and help people on a daily basis… and dentistry allows me to do just that!
My favourite part of dentistry is establishing positive and long-term relationships with my patients, and being able to deliver the best possible treatment to them. I love all areas of dentistry, but especially cosmetic dentistry; I find that giving people confidence to smile their most beautiful smile is very rewarding!
In my spare time, I love spending time outdoors in nature, cycling, and hiking, I love exploring new areas around the city, as well as travelling abroad, and spending time with my family, my husband and Bernedoodle dog Ernie.

I was born and raised in the Philippines. I received my Registered Dental Hygienist diploma from Regency Dental Hygiene Academy in Toronto.
I recently joined The Stockyards Dental team with 10 years of experience in Dentistry and Dental Hygiene. My treatment philosophy is I am committed in promoting and helping each individual achieve their optimal oral health through education, health promotion and providing preventive and clinical therapy.
I am honoured to work with such an amazing team here at The Stockyards Dental. Staff and patients have become my extended family.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, watching movies, camping and spending it with my husband Ryan and precious children Ares, Apollo and Athena.

I was born and raised in Brazil. I am fluent in Portuguese and English.
My professional life began at a young age. I believe that this contributed to the customer service experience, knowledge and the passion to work with people of diverse ages and backgrounds.
I am a Registered Dental Hygiene, and I am dedicated and committed to make a difference in people’s lives and to promote good oral health. My passion has allowed me to develop a work ethic of constant evolution and growth.
I joined the very well respected team at The Stockyards Dental in December 2021. Right away everyone made me feel very welcomed and at home. I feel this was the perfect fit for me as our values align.
Family is my foundation! I have been married to Rodolfo for 24 years and together we are raising two beautiful and smart girls, Marina and Eduarda. I like to enjoy my free time watching movies, spending time with family and friends and cooking with my family.

I was born and raised in a small island in the Azores called Santa Maria in Portugal. I immigrated to Canada in 2011.
I took the Dental Assisting Course and graduated in 2017. I wrote my boards and got certified as a Level II Assistant in 2019.
I joined the amazing team at The Stockyards Dental in 2023. I love working here because the office believes that the patient experience is our priority. I work very hard to ensure all our patients feel comfortable while in our office.
I love working with the amazing dentists and team here because I know that our aim to offer excellent care of each and every patient. This is my favourite part of my job here. I love always educating myself about different new technologies, equipment and material.
I enjoy learning new aspects of dentistry.

I am a dentist trained in Brazil with advanced training in Oral Surgery. Currently, I work as a Dental Assistant at The Stockyards Dental, where I support clinical procedures and focus on delivering patient-centred care.
I believe in a human-centred approach to dentistry, integrating strong clinical knowledge, modern technology, and empathy to ensure patients feel safe and comfortable. I am currently in the process of revalidating my dental diploma in Canada and remain actively engaged in ongoing academic and professional development to provide safe, ethical, and high-quality care.

Office Manager, Dental Assistant Level II
I received my Level II Dental Assisting Diploma from Durham College in 2000.
I started my career in the administrative department and developed my skills and education over the past 16 years to now be an intricate member of the back office and Dr. Melissa’s right hand as well as Team Lead for all the Assistants at The Stockyards Dental.
Recently I received a promotion and joined the management team at The Stockyards Dental. I have always loved new challenges and are looking forward to helping our patients from an administrative instead of a clinical perspective.
I love working with talented and compassionate professionals that have the best interest of the patient in mind. Using dentistry to serve the underprivileged is where my heart beats.
Patients appreciate my calm, caring and compassionate nature and we create many wonderful relationships. It is so much easier to educate someone who loves and trusts you.
Outside of work, I love watching movies and spending time with my husband Mike and my awesome sons Lucas and Andrew.

I arrived at The Stockyards Dental with 6 years’ dental hygiene experience and a strong desire to make this office my professional home. After my first visit, and due to the latest technology, eye catching interior décor and amazing team atmosphere I knew this was the place for me.
I am a big people person and kindly rewarded as “the voice of the stockyards”. I truly love to help people create healthy beautiful smiles and to help them understand why complete oral care is so beneficial to them and to their overall health. There are not many people that can truly say they love what they do, “I truly love what I do”. My passion is to see all my patients with complete overall systemic health.
I am the proud mother of two amazing boys who brighten my every day. I love cooking, running and watching TV with my husband and children as well I love spending time with family.

I originally attended a nursing course in college. There was only one part of nursing that did not resonate with me, the part where there are “sad” moments. My dream was to help patients get back to health and nursing just did not fit that bill. I went back to school with a rather big change in fields, “dentistry“…
I consider myself fortunate to work for the team at The Stockyards Dental. When I was ready to graduate from Everest College in 2014 with my Level II Dental Assisting Diploma I looked for a place to do my placement and The Stockyards Dental was that place.
It was love at first site and what started as a placement ended as a rewarding career choice.
Our team is unique and what I bring to it is a huge smile and a huge heart coupled with a unique personality. I always have a smile in my face because it makes patients feel welcome cared for and happy. I enjoy all the stories patients tell me and more I enjoy the personal interaction. My job is to ensure their experience here is not only professional but caring and exceptional.
When I am not at work I love watching movies, spending time with family and friends, I enjoy a glass of white wine and a long walk with my iPod.

I was born and raised in Brazil. I graduated from PUC-MG University as an Electrical Engineer and worked 16 years in the field as an administrative assistant to a big corporation.
I moved to Canada in 2000. It was a challenge to change careers after so many years but I embraced the move and challenge and decided to change my focus a bit.
I was introduced to dentistry in 2007 through a good friend of mine. Over the years, I have grown to love the administrative part of this field and I cannot imagine myself doing anything else.
I joined the team at The Stockyards Dental August of 2017 and have made them my “working family”.
I love the people I work with! Working at Stockyards Dental and within the Portuguese community is very rewarding for me. I value and respect our patients and I always offer exceptional customer service with caring and kindness.
Some of my personal interests include traveling to new places, dining at unique restaurants and of course, body pump workouts!

I have been fortunate to have worked with some amazing dentists over the past years. I started in the field of dentistry in 1978 and since then I have worked with some pretty amazing individuals that have provided me with the knowledge I needed to assist my patients in making educated decisions about their oral health.
I started my career at the age of 16 as a dental receptionist part time while in high school back in the late 70’s. Since then I have received my dental assisting diploma from George Brown College back in the early 80’s, and have proceeded to supervise, manage, teach dental hygiene students and consult with dental practices.
People are my passion! I want to help our patients meet their oral health goals and have a smile they absolutely love! It is truly a rewarding experience to change patients outlook on their oral health and to change the way they feel about themselves. I could not think of anything else I would prefer to do in life.
I have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Melissa since Dec 17, 2014, but I have known her for many more years before this. I am thrilled to be an extension of this truly wonderful team. I know that at The Stockyards Dental we offer Dentistry from the Heart!
During my personal time I love spending time with my children , grandchildren and our dog Mia. I love taking long walks, listening to music, dancing and learning Spanish. In the last few years I am a board member and have volunteered for dental health missions with “Health Mission Outreach Canada” . I have been fortunate to help people in Toronto, El Salvador and Guatemala.
